FHU Men’s Basketball Honored as Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Amateur Male Team of the Year

One more award was presented to Freed-Hardeman University's NAIA championship-winning Lions during the summer. At the awards gala in late July, the Lions were honored as the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame’s Amateur Male Team of the Year.

The ceremony, presented by the Tennessee Titans, featured several winning programs and players from the Volunteer State including the Professional Team of the Year: the Nashville Predators. Joining the Lions in the Amateur Team category were the Amateur Female Team of the Year: the Lady Vols softball team of the University of Tennessee.

Among the individual inductees into the Hall of Fame were gold medal figure skater Scott Hamilton, Tennessee Titan Chris Johnson and Nashville Predator Pekka Rinne.

This marks the second time Freed-Hardeman has been recognized by the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame, with the NAIA champion Lady Lions basketball team being honored in 2018.
