Spring Success for FHU Athletics
Freed-Hardeman University athletes delivered a strong spring semester, marked by postseason appearances, individual milestones and impressive performances across multiple sports. From clutch wins to personal records and national rankings, the Lions and Lady Lions represented FHU with excellence both on and off the field.

Baseball
Baseball Highlights
The Lions notched nine wins over teams ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA Top-25 poll. A key moment came in a road sweep of (RV) Campbellsville. In the MSC Tournament, Matthew Riley opened play with a no-hitter. Freshman Cooper Johnson was named MSC Freshman of the Year and also earned a Gold Glove as a pitcher. Trace Anderson, Cade Fuller and JJ Pruneau received First Team All-MSC honors, while Dawson Massengale was named to the Second Team. Outfielder Dalton Bonner also picked up a Gold Glove.

Softball
Softball Milestones
The Lady Lions opened the season against two top-five teams and went on to earn votes in the final Top-25 poll. Their turning point came during Senior Day weekend with a sweep of (RV) Campbellsville, helping them secure second place in the MSC and an at-large bid to the NAIA Opening Round. First Team All-MSC selections included Kylee Brown, Chloe Carter and Karli Quillin. Brinley Cousar and Myleah Hardy earned Second Team recognition, and Carter added a Gold Glove in the outfield.

Track and Field
Track & Field Progress
Throughout the season, FHU athletes set and later broke multiple personal records. Greer Davis earned MSC Field Athlete of the Week honors, while Mary Pearce and Barrett Poe remained in the hunt for national championship berths through their performances at a final qualifying meet.

Golf
Golf Achievement
Women’s golf turned in a strong showing at the Central Baptist Invitational, finishing second as a team. Ansley Pratt led the way with the tournament’s individual low score medal.

Tennis
Tennis Momentum
Women’s tennis doubled its win total compared to last season. On the men’s side, the team advanced to the MSC semifinals and climbed to No. 47 in the ITA rankings. Doubles partners Merlin Bolema and Maxime Guyon earned a No. 28 national ranking.

Third annual Roar Awards
Athletic Honors
Several student-athletes were recognized for their outstanding contributions to FHU Athletics. Matthew Riley received the Heart of a Lion award, while Peyton Law and Kaylee Odom were named Outstanding Male and Female Student-Athletes. Jenna Satterly earned the Outstanding Individual Achievement award for her performance in the NAIA Tournament against Florida Memorial March 15.
Looking Ahead
With continued growth, leadership and postseason success, the spring semester proved once again that FHU Athletics is building something special—on the field, on the court and in the hearts of fans across the Lion community.
